Pembroke College Boarding House
This project involved the creation of a new contemporary boarding house facility by bringing together an austere-period multi-storey 1960s building and a heritage bluestone cottage to create a unified outcome.
The outcome provides bedrooms, activity and living spaces in a building that emphasises domestic scale and character as the basis for supporting students’ senses of well-being and community. The building carefully delineates and reinforces different precincts within the school campus in accordance with Master Planning undertaken by Cheesman Architects and successfully meets the challenge of integrating two existing buildings of significantly different architectural style.
