Seaford Town Centre
The design for the centre of this new town South of Adelaide addressed the challenge to transform a major arterial roadway into a place where people will stop, socialise and interact as a community and also form the keystone for surrounding urban development.
Central to the design solution is the establishment of a town square to break the traffic flow and serve as focus for community, retail and residential functions. The design establishes the town high street, providing links to major arterial roadways and precincts for educational functions.
Retail and community functions and spaces are carefully co-located with residential zones in accordance with crime prevention design strategies and hubs for the future extension of the public transport system from the Adelaide metropolitan area have also been integrated.
