Semaphore Main Street

Urban and streetscape design for the reinvigoration of historic Semaphore Road extending from the seafront to Port Adelaide with the objectives of improving general amenity and the attractiveness and viability of the commercial precincts.

The design addressed specific issues including improved accessibility for persons with disabilities and the reduction of conflict between people and cars through use of street planting, bollards and differing pavement materials to delineate between pedestrian and vehicular zones. The design also proposed the re-instatement of the original tramway to the length of the road and careful emphasis of each of the street's historic buildings and elements.

Particular attention was paid to addressing the interface between Semaphore Road and the Semaphore Foreshore precinct.
