Ceduna District Health Service Redevelopment
A project encompassing delivery of 3,500sqm new hospital facilities on a existing Regional Hospital site and the refurbishment of existing buildings to provide 1,800sqm of primary care facilities.
The new hospital has been specifically designed to take advantage of the excellent views across Murat Bay and provide high-quality environments that promote patient and staff wellbeing.
Design occurred in close consultation with local and non-urban indigenous communities to incorporate culturally sensitive elements to encourage visits to the site.
Access to views and external areas is provided by balconies and covered decks providing gathering spaces for patients, families and staff.
A very high energy efficiency has been achieved through use of optimised passive design features and engineering services suited to the remote location.
In collaboration with STH Perth and Grieve Gillet Architects.
