Alpha and Palais Apartments

Alpha Apartments, Rundle Street, Adelaide

This is a redevelopment of a former open lot car park, and comprises 44 luxury apartments with roof top terraces above a multi-storey car park building.

It utilises an unrated expressed structural steel frame and is the first and only multi-storey building to use steel in this innovative way. It was the result of working with the steel manufacturer, private certifier and SA Fire Services to prepare an alternative solution to conventional fire engineering systems.

Extensive double glazed low E glass was used to maximise views and minimise the bulk and scale of the building. Large open balconies provide a seamless extension of internal living spaces and take advantage of the cosmopolitan environment below.
