The Queen Elizabeth Hospital
Cheesman Architects was engaged to develop a new Master Plan for this major hospital which had already commenced a redevelopment process.
The new Master Plan needed to deliver a modern 65,000 sqm acute care hospital in a staged process that would not interrupt the delivery of daily services.
Significant challenges included the effective incorporation of recently completed buildings into a new hospital plan and the need to accommodate the continued operation of substantial older buildings until the new hospital buildings are completed.
The resultant Master Plan incorporates innovative solutions to provide both the required optimum outcome and the staged delivery process and is the basis for the current Stage 2 Redevelopment project.
