QEH Community Childcare Centre
A project involved a brand new childcare centre for 46 children from 6 weeks to 4 years of age which is sensitively sited amongst the beautiful established trees of the former Tenterden House gardens.
Founded on extensive consultation with staff and parents, the resulting design is a bright, stimulating and engaging space that is colourful, practical and specifically designed to reinforce and support the cultural elements important to this community-minded organisation.
The building avoided the now typical box-like form for such facilities and was considered from a child's perspective in terms of scale and nurturing aspects. The design and detailing also reflect the project objective for an environmentally sensitive outcome with minimised energy consumption.
