AWLSA Pet Crematorium

A new purpose-designed highly specialised facility for the Animal Welfare League of South Australia located in the Northern Suburbs of Adelaide to enable it to provide an animal cremation service to Clients throughout South Australia and beyond. The new facility replaces an ageing existing crematorium and enables the AWLSA to offer a greater range of services for pet owners, animal lovers and veterinarians through a modern, environmentally sensitive and well equipped facility that is sensitive to the needs of Clients. The facility includes two new state-of-the-art cremating units purposely designed and built in the United Kingdom which provide the capacity to cremate animals up to and including horses. The building design supports clients through an often very challenging time and includes special consulting and viewing spaces to enable owners to farewell their pets in a sensitive and supportive environment. The project encompassed careful consideration of complex regulatory and licensing requirements as well as the full integration of the new cremating units being constructed at the same time on the other side of the world. The final facility was delivered under budget and ahead of programme through a collaborative team approach.
